September

Freshers' Meeting (23 September) - A chance for freshers to get to know your mates, share your hopes and fears and get your questions answered. See you at the University Chapel at 6.30pm!

October

Freshers' Week (1 - 6 October) - MKSU keeps its appointment from year to year in freshers' week by helping freshers out in settling down while offering them our friendship and experience. Check out MKSU's stand on Campus from where you can get to know more about MKSU, collect a membership form as well as an application form for the Kickstart live-in and buy tickets for Freshers BBQ.

KICKstart Live-in (23 - 25 October) - A leisure weekend for freshers and other interested students. It includes workshops focusing on getting to know others, teamwork and other topics such as human rights education. It is aimed to help freshers undertake the transition from sixth form to Unviersity and build new friendships. Application forms will be available from MKSU stand and Chaplaincy during Freshers Week.

Price: 42 euros

Blood Drive (28 - 29 October) - Blood is essential for us to live. It is priceless - it cannot be bought. YOU are the one who has been entrusted with the responsibility of giving blood and, in the end, it might be YOU who may need to receive it. Blood saves lives. An adult person has a total blood volume of about 5 to 6 litres. When one donates blood, he or she is giving only about 450ml - less than 8% of one's total blood volume (and also less than a pint … how long did it take you to down that pint of beer last Saturday?). Before donating blood, you must prepare yourself by drinking a lot of water and avoiding fatty foods. To ensure that you are healthy enough to donate, a doctor will perform a general check-up, and your haemoglobin level will be checked, before you donate blood. We hope to see you on the 28th or 29th of October at the Blood Mobile Unit near Gateway Carpark to donate blood. Don’t forget to get your I.D. Card with you! Please don’t leave it up to someone else.

Freshers BBQ (30 October) - A fundraising activity organized by MKSU and Chaplaincy held at Chaplaincy. This will be an opportunity to welcome freshers to university life and help them start socializing with other students. Everyone is welcome!

Time: 7pm onwards

Price: 8 euros

Tickets available from Chaplaincy and MKSU Stand during Freshers Week.

Christma$$ (11th December) - Christma$$: X'se jiswa dan il-Milied? (What will this Christmas cost you?) is a debate, that will be held on the 11th December at 12:00 pm at the quadrangle, where MKSU will be discussing with a number of other people the values in today's Christmas. Has it all become too materialistic? Or is Christmas still special for some people?, Come over to find out.

Christmas Activity (9th December) - A sheet will be spread out on quadrangle during the day where one can stop and write a short message for MKSU.

hristmas Meal (29th December) - Join us for part of our Christmas celebrations at Ir-Rokna, Paceville for a meal with refugees in Malta. Here is a chance to show solidarity towards them.

May

MKSU AGM (5th May) - 4pm at Dar Manwel Magri.  This will give you an opportunity to catch up with what we have been doing this past year and participate in the nomination of a new executive committee.

MKSU Election (13th May) - Voting will take place between 9am and 2.30pm at the Chaplaincy Common Room (Room 101).  Don't forget that only those who were full members before this year's AGM can vote, and please bring your ID Cards with you (or any other means of identification).  We strongly urge you to come and vote, it will only take up a few minutes of your time!
